Wow…the last entry I wrote was from 2 months ago. Has it been that long, already? I guess it is.

Nothing special has been happening to me. All I’ve done lately is work and just chill out, although working has taken a back seat. I changed my mind and did not make my self available to work anytime as originally planned (because I thought I needed some time for my self since I’d been extremely busy when I had school). Instead, I blocked Thursdays and Fridays off. That way if I had to go somewhere for the weekend, all I had to do is book Saturday and Sunday off and I won’t have to work 4 days. It would be nice to not to be able to work every weekends but that’s just impossible with my workplace.

I’m still not sure if I’m going to quit my job when school starts on September. I will be at school Monday to Friday the whole day each day and I don’t think I want to squeeze in work somewhere in between.

Anyway, it was the season premiere of Monk last night. I even marked it on my calendar just to make sure I wouldn’t miss it. My sisters, Bass and I made it a “Monk Night.” I made spring rolls, pork dim sum and chicken stir fry for dinner. And then together we watch “Mr. Monk Buys a House.”

It was a great episode. It was really sad that Stanley Kamel, who played Dr. Charles Kroger, Monk’s psychiatrist, pass away a few months ago. But I liked the way they handled his death in the show. Sure, the “msytery” part has taken a back seat on this one, but it just suit well that the person who “saved” Adrian will be on the spotlight on this episode. I especially like the ending where Monk moved back to his apartment, opened the window and leaned in to listen to his neighbour playing a Chopin piece and then they zoomed in to Dr. Kroger’s picture on Monk’s mantel. I also loved that they dedicated the episode to Stanley Kamel.

I can’t wait until next Friday for another new episode.

Yes, I’m that crazy about Monk.

When I woke up this morning, I finally did one of the things that I’ve been putting off since I got my new glasses: to find out if I was qualified for the vision benefits at work. I only worked a few days a week so I had to call my union representative to ask about and she directed me to the person in charge of employee health benefits. I was happy to find out that I am eligible to receive a $200 (CDN) reimbursement for my glasses. All I have to do is fill out a form, send it in and expect my cheque within 2 weeks. Sweet.

After that I placed a call to that optical place where I got my new glasses a couple of weeks ago. I made an appointment for a contact lens fitting that afternoon. I was so glad that he was able to fit me in even though I just called. They had two openings, one at 3 in the afternoon and the other at 6:30 pm. I picked the earlier one.

The whole thing took less than 30 minutes because apparently, I had to take toric lenses and they had to special order those. They’d call me back in a couple of days once my trial pair arrives and then I’d wear them for a couple of weeks. After that, I can tell them whether I still want to buy contacts or not.

Now I can’t wait until they come. It’s my first time to wear contacts, I’m excited.  I know it’s going to uncomfortable at the beginning, but that’s okay. After years of having to wear glasses all the time, especially when I go out. Or risk getting a ticket for driving without corrective lenses (which is almost impossible because I don’t think I’ll reach the end of my street unscathed without glasses). Now I can wear shades. LOL.

That’s another $$ spent, but that’s okay, because I am getting $200 back. Yay.
